Too True for Lies A Child Story eBook Stephen D Matthews
"Too True for Lies A Child's Story" by Stephen D. Matthews is one of the best books that I have read in a while. It was both entertaining and educational. It made me laugh and it made me sad. It has so many different elements. As a mother of a young boy, I was shocked at what this boy had to endure and all that he went through at such a young age. The author does a great job describing his hardships and his lack of supervision. He captures the fact that the boy seems to be enjoying his life but then shows his sadness at knowing his mother will never change. It is easy to relate to this boy as I am sure he represents many children in our society today. Matthews is a very talented writer. his imagery draws you into the room, the situation and the boy's head. His descriptions allow you to see what he describes with such clarity. I love his writing style. Though this book has a serious tone, the author lightens it up with small breaks throughout. I laughed at the boy sitting in the bathroom stealing looks at dirty magazines. I won't give this scene away but he has a funny story. You will pick this book up and want to keep reading. As a Mom, it made me go hug my children and appreciate all that I am able to do to make their childhood safe and happy.Product details

Too True for Lies A Child Story eBook Stephen D Matthews Reviews
To True For Lies was a book that I found hard to put down. Each page had me wanting more. Although it's a short story, To True For Lies is packed with a lot of emotions and thought provoking themes. If you are a parent this story will have you evaluating how your behavior can potentially impact your children down the road. This book has something for everyone (I wouldn't recommend it for children). If you are looking for an easy read that will keep you guessing, this is definitely one book you are going to want to buy
We never really take into account the way our actions will add up in the end. From the moment we are old enough (or at least think we are) to make our own decisions, we being shaping the type of person we will become. "Too True For Lies A Child's Story" by Stephen Matthews tells the story of a young boy as he grows through the many instances of life that help to force those self molding situations to the surface. The reader is taken down paths that are often kept hidden from outsiders to show how the serious issues we hear about on a daily basis are not so foreign to the masses. From teasing to sexual encounters and everything in between, real issues are shown through this interesting collection of "memories". It is often wondered what is see through a child's eyes.....perhaps the better question to ponder is what can we do to help change what they see for the better.
Recommended reading for older teens through adult readers.....
Too True For Lies is the type of book I love. It forces you to think outside of the box - it forces you to question what you have believed to be true and challenges you to think back and realize that you are who you are today because of the thoughts, emotions and ideas that you created/picked up and felt as a young child.
Being a child means that you are at the mercy of every adult around you - whether you are consciously thinking things or not.
The story is very well written with beautiful prose that made me want to reread certain passages. However, the strength of this storyline is definitely the fact that you will not be able to read this book without thinking of your own life - and, at times, even missing and mourning that young child that you were - innocent with so much ahead of you - had you known.
If you like to read books that out of the ordinary, that take an ordinary subject and turns it on its ear, then this is the book for you.
After reading the title of this book, I was expecting a cute story about children and their silly antics. This couldn't have been farther from reality. "Too True for Lies a Child's Story" by Stephen Matthews is the very emotional journey of a man from young child to adult while living in a Philly ghetto. We are taken along as he endures abandonment from his mother, teasing from his family members, and sexual self awareness. All his young life, he lacks any real role model or education of life lessons and is left to figure things out on his own. This leads to many sexual encounters and the pregnancy of his girlfriend before he finishes school. In the end, this boy comes to realize that life is what you make it.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I found myself looking at the education I have provided my children and the type of example I am setting for them. This book will leave the reader asking on question, "Do I want my children to grow up to be me?" If the answer is no, then perhaps it is time to make a change.
